Exhaustion was a frequent companion in the tornado that was life. But the laughter of the children! It made everything lighter. After Charlotte left, there was a lot of silence in our home, but suddenly there were yells and chuckles. The place felt alive because of James’s incessant questions, Jonas’s attempts at humor, and Eva’s kind taunting. Our house was turning into just that—a house.
