Director’s Words
Joe Dante, the editor of Grand Theft Auto, the 1977 film directed by Ron and co-written by Rance, also offered kind words for the late star. Rance was regarded by him as “a stand-up guy who worked until the end” and “one of my favorite go-to actors.” Furthermore, producer Larry Karaszewski, who worked with Rance on Ed Wood, praised the veteran actor as “one of the true gentlemen in this business.”
West Nile Virus
Rance’s death was later determined to be the result of heart failure, with a West Nile virus infection being a contributing factor. Those who grieve his death, however, will always have the many films in which he starred over his 60-year career. Unfortunately, it is nearly impossible to live a life without losing a loved one. And it’s never easy to lose someone who has impacted the lives of so many people.
