Media mogul In the 1960s, Merv Griffin founded Jeopardy! During the show, candidates are given answers to unseen questions, which they must then supply. The original series aired in numerous incarnations during the 1960s and 1970s. The show was then revived as a daily syndicated show on NBC in 1984, with Trebek at the helm.
