To an unknown place
It would not be long before Brendan and John, now frightened, discovered the truth. The submarine was moving to an unknown location, and the consequences of this journey would be enormous. Until then, however, the only thing they could do was wait. They took advantage of that time to search the submarine for any clue that might explain what was happening. Every nook, every door, every small machine they could inspect seemed to be shrouded in even deeper mystery, fueling their sense of helplessness and growing terror.
Toward An Unknown Place
The investigation
The first part of their investigation took them to the main console on the north side of the submarine. It looked like something out of a 1980s movie, with heavy buttons and cables running haphazardly across the back. Despite its ancient and bulky appearance, the machine did not seem to control any part of the ship. While Brendan was trying to figure out what it was, it was John who called out something in a strained voice, jolting Brendan. “Look at this,” he said, pointing to a hidden screen that seemed barely visible behind a layer of dust. What they saw left them speechless.
