Incoming Light
Just as Brendan and John, exhausted and defeated, collapsed on the submarine floor, a sudden and powerful vibration shook the entire vessel. It was the same feeling they had experienced when the submarine had sunk thirty minutes earlier, but this time the vibration seemed to push upward. “Look, there’s light coming through the upper window!” exclaimed John, with a note of excitement in his voice, as his eyes widened in surprise.

John’s enthusiasm quickly faded as Brendan, with a worried look on his face, began to realize that the entire voyage was probably about to take a fatal turn. As the submarine fully resurfaced from the surface of the water, loud voices were heard coming from the top of the ship. “Someone’s coming in; hide now!” shouted Brendan, jolting John from his distraction as the two of them quickly crouched down, trying to escape the sight of whoever was coming aboard.
