More than once, Brendan and John risked being caught: once, John tripped over a loose cable, causing the two closest workers to wince, who turned sharply, almost spotting them. But with steady nerves and stealthy movements, they managed to continue unseen, until their disguise as shadows finally led them to witness something surprising: the central event of the entire operation.

Brendan and John crouched behind a large crate, watching carefully. In front of them, an elderly man, whom Brendan estimated to be about sixty years old, stood. Far more elegant than the others on the platform, the man did not go unnoticed. The three individuals who had unloaded the packages moments earlier approached and, with some deference, laid the stack of large packages at his feet. “That must be the boss,” John whispered, with a hint of disbelief in his voice.
