Mark’s concern
Mark watched the footage, his brow furrowing with concern. “Tom, I see the figure, but it might be another dog from the neighborhood,” he explained. Tom’s heart fell. “But, Dad, it looks just like Max!” he protested. Mark sighed and attempted to maintain his voice level. “Tom, please understand that our minds sometimes see what we want to see. “There are many dogs around here,” he said.

Frustrated by his father’s discharge, Tom resolved to take matters into his own hands once more. When his parents were gone for the day, he grabbed a tiny shovel and went to Max’s grave. “I have to find out for myself,” he decided. He began digging as the sun spread a pleasant glow over the yard. Soon, he discovered little bones and something sparkly, which caused his heart to rush.
