Michael Alig
Michael Alig, the notorious leader of the 1990s’ “Club Kids,” has died. He was 54 years old. Alig was a co-founder of New York City’s edgy club scene. He was later convicted of murdering and dismembering Andre “Angel” Melendez, another club kid. Party Monster, a 2003 feature film starring Alig, was based on his story.
Leslie West
On December 23, Leslie West, a 75-year-old rock guitarist who died two days after suffering a cardiac arrest, died. West co-founded Mountain in 1969 and performed with them on Woodstock’s second day. He collaborated with artists such as The Who, Bo Diddley, and Ian Gillan of Deep Purple throughout his career. West made his feature film debut in Family Honor and The Money Pit during one of Mountain’s breakups.
