Alaska hadn’t quite captivated their children’s hearts the way Elly and Peter had. They had made the decision to relocate southern and far away to the continent of America. If Elly went to Dallas or Boston, her girls would be delighted. Elly, on the other hand, despised the idea of living in a huge city. Nobody else seemed to realize she had Alaskan ancestors.

When Elly started school, she met Peter, who had recently emigrated to Alaska with his family. At the time, the only things two youngsters could do for fun were play in their yards or ride bicycles next to each other. To put it simply, their community was little. Elly envisioned marrying Peter and having a sparkling life with him as they grew older. Not precisely what I had expected to happen.
