Apparently, a person who got wind of this story felt like there must be parental abuse in there. The police had been contacted, which also prompted the press to spring into action. In the report, they talked about the haircut Schaffen forced on his daughter. Police Chief Colby Carroll talked to Fox8. During his interview, he could not help but admit, “I’ve been doing this since ’92 and I’ve never had a case I would say that’s like this.”

Administrative Leave
The authorities, of course, made their way to Schaffen’s house as well. He and Sarah were both suspended from their job at the Middletown Township Fire Department. On paper, the man and wife were both on “administrative leave”. That does not sound like a good thing at all to us.
