He took another look at the check and inhaled deeply. Was he actually going to do such a thing? He knew $10,000 was no laughing matter, and it could truly change everything for him. Was this really the right thing to do? He decided it was, so he crossed the road and looked for a friend of his. He planned to borrow a cellphone and give the number on the check a call.

The Phone Call
Roberta answered the phone after it rang three times. The caller told her that she lost her check that morning. She could not believe what she was hearing. She then looked through her handbag right away and learned that the person on the other end was correct. Roberta could not believe just how careless she had been. She immediately regained her composure and asked the man to meet up so that she could retrieve the check she had lost.
