To go over everything, we met three times: once in her office and twice online. After reviewing my documents, Marie grinned and said, “It’s all set. Just sign and walk away.” I took a big breath and signed where she indicated. It felt like a new beginning with one penstroke. It was a tremendous relief to know that the documentation was flawless. I was prepared for this new phase of my life.

Mailing Day
I mailed the final paperwork off a week before my 18th birthday. I utilized funds I had accumulated from tutoring younger students at school and birthday parties. Saving money wasn’t simple, but it felt good to put it toward something worthwhile. I experienced a mixture of worry and excitement as I waited for the mailman. I had officially started the process. I now needed to wait patiently for my move to pay off.
