Father’s skepticism
The father is still dubious in spite of the neighbor’s thorough explanation. He finds it impossible to reconcile the monster the neighbor depicts with the devoted woman he knows. He rejects much of the worry inside, but he vows to pay closer attention. Even with mounting suspicion, he finds it difficult to escape the tight web that the stepmom’s deceptive charm has built around his vision.

Neighbor calls police
The neighbor, frustrated by the father’s lack of action, makes the courageous decision to intervene. She compiles her observations and notes and makes an anonymous call to the local police. In the hopes that the authorities will take action, she gives all of the documentation she has and explains the issue. She prays that the youngster will be saved and the truth will eventually be revealed as she hits “send” on the email, her heart racing.
