Neighbor notices absence
When the youngster disappears, the neighbor is increasingly concerned. The customary glimpse through the curtains shows nothing, and she hasn’t seen him in days. She becomes increasingly concerned and believes things have gotten worse. Her determination hardens as she begins to observe more closely. She becomes more anxious and acts when she doesn’t see the boy in the yard or at the window.

She documents the boy’s suffering by taking pictures and recording discussions from a distance. Using her phone, the neighbor records brief clips of the stepmother’s stern remarks and the boy’s hushed tears as they elude the thin walls. She takes photographs from her window, capturing the boy’s absence as well as any obvious indications of maltreatment. Her case against the stepmother gets stronger with every bit of evidence gathered.
