Life gets worse
As the stepmom’s actions deteriorate, the boy’s life gets more and more unpleasant. She criticizes everything he does and disciplines him for the smallest infractions. Every day that goes by diminishes the boy’s optimism for a change for the better. His formerly upbeat attitude wanes and is replaced with a persistent sense of worry and uneasiness. Though he is too afraid to tell his father what is going on, he misses him.

The stepmother’s physical and mental abuse of the youngster intensifies when she is left alone with him. She begins shoving and hitting him, making his emotional anguish worse. Her harsh comments and violent punishments are what the youngster must put up with every day. There are serious consequences for each tiny act of disobedience or error. The youngster has no one to turn to and feels imprisoned and powerless.
