If it were not for Jim Thompson, Thai silk would not be the global commodity that it is now. He used to be an OSS agent. In case you did not know, that was the predecessor of the CIA! When he relocated to Asia, he launched one of the greatest business ventures in the world. By 1967, he was a rich socialite. That same year, he went to Malaysia for a biking trip and did not return. There are many theories about his fate. Others thought that his business rivals in Bangkok killed him, while others think that he was murdered by the Thai government, the CIA, or an anti-CIA faction. Everyone agrees that he did not die in the woods since he went through survival training in the past. Something fishy must have taken place.

Things got so out of hand when he started to spy on them and record their phone conversations. It came to a boil when he tried to bludgeon his wife in a dim room. The room was so dark that he could not tell for sure if his target was actually her. Instead of his wife, he killed the nanny of the children! After murdering Sandra Rivett, he disappeared and has never resurfaced. Others think that he went to Africa and died there, while others believe that he took his own life by jumping into a river. There is also a theory that his friends fed him to tigers. At any rate, no one has seen him ever again.
