Feeling Welcomed
The staff’s kindness and thankfulness were contagious when I visited the charity and got to know them. With a broad smile, a volunteer replied, “Thank you for being here.” Their gratitude gave me a feeling of direction that I hadn’t had in a while. Finding a new family that valued more than money was similar to that. I was persuaded that I was headed in the correct direction by the strong sense of belonging I had.

We spoke about how my contributions may actually make an impact over coffee. The director said, her eyes glimmering with excitement, “You have no idea how far your support will go in the community.” Their commitment to the cause inspired me, and I was even more motivated to help. It opened my eyes to how I may affect other people’s lives, which strengthened my commitment.
