Kenneth Branagh was the director and tar of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. At the time, he made up a power couple with Emma Thompson. They were one of the most famous couples in British cinema at the time. Production on the movie started five years into their marriage. However, he was unable to look past his attraction to Helena Bonham Carter. His wife divorced him as soon as the affair came to light. However, the two women have since cleared the air. Thompson shared, “As Mike Nicholls [the film and theatre director] once said, and I’ve picked it up because I think it’s such a wonderful phrase – all blood under the bridge. You can’t hold on to anything like that. I think… pfft… It’s pointless. I haven’t got the energy for it. Helena and I made our peace years and years ago.”
