Nazi Documents

A couple in Hungary was amazed when they discovered some top-secret Nazi documents that were hidden in their walls. During a renovation, the couple found over 6,000 Nazi documents in their walls, all from the Third Reich. The documents contain details about the holocaust, specifically, a census to count Jews and designate homes which they could be moved into before they were moved into ghettos within Budapest. Naturally, scholars very much value this new insight into the past as documents like these are incredibly rare.

Hiding Them

Most of these kinds of documents were destroyed by the Nazis when they knew they’d fall into enemy hands. It seems that whoever was in charge of these papers decided to hide them in the walls instead of actually destroying them. The census was undertaken two months before the Nazis occupied Hungary. According to official numbers, 600,000 Hungarian Jews were killed in the holocaust.
