Robert The Bruce
Robert I, also known as Robert the Bruce, was the king of Scots whose reign lasted from 1306 until 1329. He led the independence of Scotland after his successful guerrilla war against England. In June 1314, he ended up victorious during the Battle of Bannockburn. However, Edward II refused to hand over the overlordship. The barons, earls, and people of Scotland took action by writing to Pope John XXII.
What Robert The Bruce Really Looked Like
Even though the king of Scots has not been depicted in contemporary art, but the University of Glasglow made casts from a skull believed to belong to Robert the Bruce. Previously, artists only used word of mouth together with their imaginations to make his portraits and statues. With the use of legal evidence, archaeological finds, and Face Lab technology, researchers created his likeness! While Robert I was recognized as the king of Scotland, he passed away only five years later.
