We both burst out laughing as our inquiry revealed some absurd tales. Is it not unbelievable that this man spent all of it on pizza? Emily laughed while dabbing at her tears. The weight was temporarily relieved; the best remedy was laughing. Thankful for the lighthearted diversion, I laughed, “At least Scott isn’t that far gone yet.” In the middle of this emotional storm, sharing comedy, even for a little while, felt like a warm hug.
