New anxious behavior
Max had been increasingly nervous lately, refusing to leave Emily’s side. He would follow her into the bathroom, the kitchen, and even the garden. He wouldn’t allow Emily leave his sight at night, complaining if she shut a door between them. Emily tried to soothe him, but his brown eyes, which had earlier glistened with amusement, now showed uneasiness, making her worry what may be wrong.

New Anxious Behavior
John finds it peculiar
John, Emily’s husband, thought Max’s abrupt shift in conduct was odd. Max was virtually plastered to Emily’s knees when he got home from work, his nose twitching with anxious excitement. “What is wrong with Max?” One evening, John questioned with a worried brow. “He never used to be this clingy.” His worry increased as he saw the dog’s unwavering alertness, eyes constantly searching their surroundings, as though something untoward were about to happen.
