Trouble Speaking
Trebek’s thoughts did wander to the prospect that his time on Jeopardy! would be limited in October of that year. He told CTV in Canada that the treatment had caused blisters in his mouth, making it difficult for him to talk. “I will keep doing [the show] as long as my skills do not diminish, and they have begun to diminish,” he stated.
Taking On Others’ Pain
Trebek also apologized to CTV for being so candid about his cancer battle. He claimed that as a result of this, many people saw him as a beacon in their own lives. But it had been difficult for him because, as he told his interviewer, he questioned his ability to bear “so much of others’ pain.”
