Meryl Streep
Meryl Streep was born in 1949 in New Jersey. Her mother was an editor and artist, and is known to have had a huge influence on Meryl Streep’s confidence and courage to throw herself into the world of art and to succeed like no other actress has ever succeeded. In the 1970s, Meryl Streep made her Broadway debut, and joined the movie industry after she landed a role in Julia. In 1978, she joined the cast of The Deer Hunter. Streep has shared that she only accepted the offer because of her then-boyfriend, John Cazale, was also due to join the movie. Her boyfriend had lung cancer at the time, and Streep didn’t want to be away from him. Curiously, she got her first Academy Award nomination that year and hasn’t stopped since then.
