As I aimlessly clicked through files, an email from HR appeared in my inbox. The subject line read, “Follow-up in two days.” My heart jolted, the words echoing in my head. I knew the recording had made an impression. Taking a deep breath, I scribbled down the date, the thought of coffee now abandoned. The impending HR meeting consumed my focus. I read the email three times, each pass stirring a wave of anxiety mingled with an unexpected sense of empowerment. It was real—this was happening.
