Atencio has become well-known across various American communities, primarily Latin American communities! This is due to her bilingual ability. In the past she has worked with Univision and Fusion TV, eventually making the crossover to American journalism in 2016, where she got the chance to work as a correspondent and anchor for MSNBC. During her time in these roles, there was no other Latina on the network. She is an absolute delight to watch and covers interesting stories which are particularly relevant and impactful for the Latin population of the U.S.

Robin Meade

Meade joined her first CNN-institution back in 2001. She started off working with subsidiary HLN and began working on 09/11, a tragic day in American history. Meade is the longest serving anchor at an American national morning-news program. When asked about her time at CNN she said, “Many regimes have come and gone. Each of them has allowed me to be myself and in large part to let this show be its own thing.”

Kate Bolduan

Indiana-born, Bolduan studied both Political Science and Broadcast Journalism at George Washington University, graduating summa cum laude. She began strongly with such an academic base, but has only proved how much further her ability can go with some excellent reporting and anchor-work at smaller news affiliates. It wasn’t until CNN came calling that she really got her big break, though. Previously, she anchored At This Hour With Kate Bolduan and State of America with Kate Bolduan.

Hallie Jackson

Lynda Kinkade

It was 2002 when Lynda Kinkade began her career as a political researcher for the Seven Network. She was still a sophomore in college at the time! She graduated from the University of Technology in Sydney with a degree in technology and worked hard to receive different roles in television and production positions, until she was eventually scouted by CNN network executives. Nowadays, Kinkade is Atlanta-based, working at CNN’s headquarters. She currently anchors on CNN Newsroom, CNN International, Connect The World, and The World Right Now. You can see that she certainly has her hands full with work, and her success has lead to being one of the most highly regarded anchors around.

Sometimes these anchors get caught in the most compromising of positions, and even though it might be unfortunate for them, often it can be quite entertaining for us! Discover some of the most awkward situations that anchors found themselves in, it won’t disappoint!

Monkey Business

Having a wild animal on television is always risky, they just simply aren’t the best behaved (or have awareness of social etiquette). Even when this news reporter, Sabrina Rodriguez, wasn’t engaging with the monkey on News on Fox 40 , the monkey certainly misbehaved! Rodriguez was reporting on the Lodi Grape Festival when a brazen monkey casually put his paw upon her right breast! We bet she wasn’t expecting that when she turned up for work that day.

‘Put This On’

Interestingly, the outfit of a local weather lady is often the topic of conversation for viewers. This is certainly the case for Liberte Chan, a KTLA meteorologist. She was doing the morning weather as usual when a colleague offered her a sweater live on air! She was told: “We’ve been getting a ton of messages,” he answered. Watchers didn’t believe Chan’s dark dress was fitting for the morning climate. In the wake of putting on the pullover, the meteorologist said she looked like an administrator.”

Kissed

Everything seemed to be going swell for Fox Sports’ Erin Andrews as she reported on the Daytona 500 in Florida back in 2013. That was until rapper 50 Cent gave her an unwanted kiss! Andrews was searching for Danica Patrick at the time when she bumped into 50 Cent, where he gave her an unexpected kiss on the cheek, as if he was overjoyed to see her! Andrews shifted her head from side to side desperately trying to avoid the rapper’s lips.

Leg Problems

Kimberly Guilfoyle, a Fox News anchor, seems to always be talked about! She has a name as one of Fox News’ more ‘leggy’ anchors, and the network certainly makes a point of highlighting Guilfoyle’s legs while she’s on the air. For sure, all this attention certainly enraged many of the network’s more conservative viewers. The anchor’s legs have been known not only to annoy the audience, but also her co-anchors! Whilst with Fox, she often needed to change into something more modest as a result of online criticism!

Yanet Garcia And Her Outfits

Let’s be real: news anchors, including meteorologists, have quite a tricky role. Reporters, anchors and alike always need to maintain professionalism no matter what happens behind the scenes. Every so often, producers and crew let off steam at work by having a little fun on the set. Yanet Garcia, a Mexican weather woman and model, is known for reading the daily forecast for Televisa Monterrey in tight, revealing clothing. On the set her co-workers played the song “Get Lucky” by Daft Punk, a super suggestive song, whilst she wore a particularly short dress.

Caught Mistress

If you’re working from home, which has become even more normalized since the COVID-19 pandemic, it would be best for your partner not to walk through the kitchen half-naked. This is even more important if the partner is actually a mistress! Spanish reporter, Alfonso Merlos, went viral after a naked woman strolled in the background during a live news segment. The bigger issue for Merlos is that the woman involved wasn’t even Merlos’ wife! The video sparked a frenzy in the Spanish media, many of which had only just published stories on Merlos and his wife’s breakup. Merlos went on to apologize for the event afterwards.

A Bit Too Jumpy

Surely there has come a time in all of our lives where we have gotten overly excited about something and done something regretful whilst being hyper. This indeed happened to Roxana Vancea, a Romanian meteorologist, when she came to work one day wearing a bodysuit that was perhaps one size too small. It was actually fine, until she jumped up and down in delight as she spoke about the beautiful weather coming that weekend. Vancea’s top slipped slightly at that moment, allowing viewers to see a little more than they expected to! Luckily, Vancea’s employers, Antena 1, recognized the issue. Vancea now has half a million followers on Instagram and has had a successful modelling career.

Almost See Through

Prior to going live on television, it might be worth double checking that everything is in order. We are sure that KRON 4 meteorologist Jacqueline Bennett of San Francisco would agree! Bennett believed that her blouse was a good choice for television  back in October 2010, but perhaps didn’t take into account the cool-temperature studio and high-strength lights. Hand-in-hand, they almost rendered her shirt entirely see-through! Bennet currently works for Spectrum News 1, continuing to report on weather for Americans throughout the country.

Getting Airtime

Dogs, similarly to people, also seemingly can’t wait for their 15 seconds of fame. Ilona Linarte, a Russian anchorwoman, sensed something odd beneath her desk during a sleepy late-night newscast. Suddenly a bark right in the middle of her report startled her, to the extent that she let out a squeal. A stunning black Labrador retriever had hidden under the desk while the show was off-air, and nobody had noticed! He even jumped up next to her to get his own screen-time!

Weather Girl Turned Model

People were left stunned when Mexican meteorologist Nailé López walked on camera back in August of 2016 wearing a bright red vest and a pair of exposing brown shorts. As expected, it generated a stir on social media about the appropriateness of the outfit. López, similarly to other meteorologists, took use of her wardrobe malfunctions. López leveraged her newfound celebrity status to become a model after the uproar her attire sparked online. López still reports the weather on occasion, but does very well from her modeling jobs!

Going Invisible

Transparency is essential in the news media, of course. However, Los Angeles meteorologist Liberte Chan took things to a new level when she became translucent in front of the camera while explaining the day’s forecast! As you can see in the photo above, Chan was dressed in a dress that blended in a little too well with the green screen. It’s worth mentioning that this isn’t the first time she’s pulled off a stunt like this. Fortunately, she was near a sympathetic coworker who offered her his blazer! By the next time around, the weatherwoman had changed into something a little more appropriate for the morning weather.

Is She Wearing Anything?

On August 22nd, 2020, when Belinda Russell, the weather anchor on Australia’s Today Extra, went into the studio, viewers at home felt she had committed the worst sartorial faux pas: appearing on broadcast completely naked. When viewers’ eyes adjusted, they discovered Russell wasn’t naked. She wore a flesh-colored bodysuit to give the idea of nudity instead. Why would somebody wear something like this?

Getting Knocked Down

Everything appeared to be fine as reporter Laura Rutledge covered the sidelines of a University of Georgia vs. University of Massachusetts football game in 2018. Rutledge, on the other hand, was slammed into and sent to the ground by Georgia player Prather Hudson in the blink of an eye. Fortunately, the reporter was unharmed and was able to laugh it off while continuing to report!

Champagne Problems

What is more aggravating than making a professional blunder? Maybe making a mistake twice at work! In 2014, Emily Walker, the wine director at the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto, appeared on a local Canadian television show to talk about the hotel’s upcoming Christmas celebrations. While she was there, she was also meant to demonstrate how to saber-open a champagne bottle with a knife. The plant, on the other hand, did not go as anticipated. On her first effort, Walker smashed the bottle, dousing herself and host Steve Darling in champagne. The bottle exploded during her second attempt!

A Cute Interruption

Let’s face it: while working from home has its perks, it also introduces certain unknown variables. This was discovered in early 2021 by Leslie Lopez, a meteorologist at KABC in Los Angeles. When Lopez’s 10-month-old son Nolan appeared on-screen during her morning weather segment, she was taken aback!
