Even after adversity and personal interactions in her early upbringing, Joy-Ann Reid was determined to pursue her passion. She was orphaned at the age of 17 and moved to the East Coast to pursue her education at Harvard University.

Rehberger served as a station co-anchor in Orlando and Oklahoma City after graduating from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1993. She agreed to join MSNBC in 2003 and went on to work as a reporter, editor, and anchor on several network shows.
