Getting Up Early
If you hear a soldier that he slept in, he most likely means that he woke up at 7:00. This is because getting up early is a habit that soldiers have acquired during their basic training and active years in service.
Popping Smoke
In movies, when soldiers “pop smoke,” they usually create a shield of smoke as a diversion for them to move into position. Outside of the army, when a soldier says he’s “popping smoke,” it means that he is leaving.
