Speaking of guns and losing them, some ex-soldiers even have nightmares about losing their weapons, only to wake up and realize that they no longer have their guns with them and that there is really no need to continue carrying them around.

Phonetic Alphabet
When soldiers are asked to spell out something, they automatically use the military phonetic alphabet. You will hear them say for “Juliet” instead of J or “delta” instead of d. You may have heard them speaking like this and you didn’t understand a thing. Don’t worry about it, he or she was just spelling something out.
