Soldiers, active or not, know this truth. For anyone who has served in the army, this is something that they completely understand. It doesn’t matter what you were told, or what you heard. Nothing is certain until it really happens and even if something does happen, it can still be canceled.

Last Names
Soldiers often don’t know each other’s first names while they are in active service. They just casually refer to each other using their fellow soldier’s last names, and in their opinion, it may be their comrade’s only name.
