The team’s boat was moving quickly through the water, chasing the whale with Ethan trapped inside. “Coast Guard, do you copy?” Clair shouted into the radio, her voice laden with urgency. “We need help! A man has been swallowed by a whale. We’re chasing him!” His fingers tightened on the radio as he adjusted the throttle, keeping his gaze fixed in the direction of the whale. The coastguard’s response was muffled, barely audible over the roar of the waves and the team’s anxious breaths as time ran out.

“Coast Guard, have you ever dealt with anything like this before? Any advice?” Clair asked, her voice laden with desperation, searching for a solution that could save Ethan. The interminable pause on the other end, filled with static, seemed to last an eternity. Finally, the cold, distant reply came: “Negative, we’ve never had a situation like this. Keep a safe distance and monitor his condition as best you can.” Clair’s heart squeezed, but she knew they couldn’t just wait for a miracle. Time was running out, and they needed a plan – and fast.
