There is nothing new about the stigma that surrounds breastfeeding. For decades now, people have argued about the “propriety” of doing it in public. There are mothers who have been condemned for doing something like this even though it is a natural part of life. The debate has often made many new moms feel conflicted and ashamed. However, nothing should come about the needs of their child.

Although there is widespread stigma around doing the act in a public space, keep in mind that it is legal in 49 of the 50 states in the country. Idaho remains the outlier. Even though it is fine in the eyes of the law, many women who do it in public suffer harassment and ridicule from passersby. Tori was in a different position from most mothers, and she used her popularity as an opportunity to speak about it.
