Nichelle Nichols as Lt. Uhura

Over the years, we have seen Nichelle Nichols play Lt. Uhura in a couple of movies in the series. Her portrayal was considered groundbreaking in several ways. She was one of the first black ladies to play a big TV role, for one thing. Aside from that, she was also the first character that had an interracial display of affection with Kirk! Uhura even became a commander in Star Trek III.
