Turning Her Experience Into A Cautionary Tale
Jessica has said she never wants to be a surrogate again after the experience she had. Nevertheless, she does not regret having become one. “[My husband and I] weren’t planning to expand our family so soon, but we treasure Malachi with all our hearts. I don’t regret becoming a surrogate mom because that would mean regretting my son. I just hope other women considering surrogacy can learn from my story. And that a greater good will come out of this nightmare,” she told the New York Post. However, things did not exactly end in a happily ever after.
Who Were The Victims?
After the publication of this unfortunate story, some people made a stand to highlight the fact that the actual victims here were the Chinese couple. One comment read, “To comprehend this story, we must also see it from the parents’ side. I can say that virtually no one turns to surrogacy before suffering a tremendous amount of heartache — miscarriages, stillbirths, failed IVFs, failed adoptions, emergency hysterectomies, etc. And because it costs tens of thousands of dollars, no one approaches surrogacy lightly.”
