You see, Crosby was the type of dog who could easily befriend and trust other animals. For one thing, he grew close to the cat and dog next door. For nearly eight years, the three of them got into various antics and mischief with one another. Sadly, tragedy struck out of the blue. His best pals passed away in rapid succession all of a sudden. The owner was devastated by their loss, but Crosby was heartbroken as well.

It makes sense that Crosby felt down. Even so, this did not explain some of the bizarre behaviors that Miller saw in him.
