The Cologne crime scene team of Max Ballauf and Freddy Schenk has shaped an entire generation. Klaus J. Behrendt, the actor, has played one of the two roles in the Golden Gong-winning detective duo since 1997. However, his role as Max Ballauf, the Tatort assistant to the then Commissioner Martin Lüttge, already appeared in the Düsseldorf Tatort. Klaus J. Behrendt and Dietmar Bär are now in front of the camera more often than any other Tatort actors, with three Tatort episodes a year. They receive around 100,000 euros per episode. His colleagues Jan Josef Liefers and Axel Prahl from the Münster Tatort are also set to receive even more.
