The situation between David and his neighbors has been tense for quite some time; in fact, the theme of their feud has lasted for generations! David tried to be civil and talk to them on several occasions as a good person, but they did something terrible, and David knew he had to intervene. The gravel pathway on the side of his property was the source of contention.

David was always concerned that someone would be hurt or involved in an unfortunate accident, so he took care of it out of goodwill. His neighbors, on the other hand, would be too blind to notice or appreciate what David was doing for the community. Instead, they wanted to replace all of the gravel with asphalt.
