A Small Ceremony
It was a small group. Rose and her parents talked about Haily, how she was a wonderful mother to David, and how she left this world far too soon. The majority of the time, Rose was tense. Looking around to see if Vincent had decided to come out. He was not, however, present during the event. Perhaps he’ll pay his respects during her funeral.

After the ceremony, there was time to say goodbye. Everyone formed a queue and moved closer to the casket to talk. Haily seems at ease within the open casket. Rose is taken aback when she notices two police officers entering the room. She speculates that the undertaker called because he noticed Vincent inside the building.
