Billie Was A Great Soldier
What Alton learned about his cousin blew him away. It turned out that Billie was not only a regular guy called in for the draft. It Was Time To Go Home
Billie was able to complete nearly a hundred missions during the war. He was allowed to return home in July 1944. He must have been delighted when he heard that he could finally go home and be with Peggy. However, fate had something else in mind for him. As he had been gearing up to go home, he wrote a letter to his wife to say that he could not wait to be reunited with her. Sadly, he ended up missing the boat meant to take him home! He then received an announcement that the trip home had to wait.
