They did not know much about the man who crashed the plane into the forest instead. As a matter of fact, they had been under the impression that he was Canadian! The townsfolk buried Billie in the sacred grounds and honored him alongside the rest of the people who served in the war. Even so, they did not know anything about him.

This was a man who sacrificed himself for the greater good. This was the highest calling in life to the residents of Les Ventes. Billie had always been the sort of guy who put the needs of others over his own. This is the reason he gave up his life on that fateful day. If you ask us, this is the greatest sacrifice that anyone can make. Without a doubt, he was truly an incredible soldier and human being.
