When Peggy heard where her husband was buried, she promised that Billie would be repatriated. She arranged to bring his remains home. Her only wish was to have him near her, and it could finally come true. They ended up moving his remains from Les Ventes all the way to Normandy American Cemetery. Thanks to his selfless act, he saved the lives of so many people. Many still think of him with fondness and admiration even to this day! Thanks to Alton, they also found out that the townsfolk of Les Ventes had to sneak around the Germans to ensure that Billie got a proper hero’s burial. Since then, it has been a long time, but the residents have not forgotten the man who ended up saving the town from doom. To this day, they still march down a street called Place Billie D. Harris thrice a year in his honor. It turns out that Peggy and Alton were not the only ones who had been thinking about this amazing man all these years.
