A lot of the townspeople said that he was their personal hero. As a matter of fact, even the mayor of the town got teary-eyed as he talked about the pilot. Billie Harris has been forever immortalized thanks to the amazing selflessness that he has displayed. Once Peggy found out where he was buried, she also sent flowers on ten occasions each year to honor his life. She did not get to spend most of it with her, but we are sure that she was proud of her amazing husband.

Once she learned what really happened to her husband, she started making yearly trips to Les Ventes in honor of Billie. She heads out to the spot in the woods where his plane crashed. Every time she goes there, she is accompanied by Guy Bureau. He is the only surviving witness of his sacrifice. If you ask him, he will tell you that he regrets his inability to do anything for the pilot. However, Peggy knows that no one could have done anything about it by then. She has told him that she is simply glad to know that her husband was not on his own at the time of his death.
