How can you not wonder about the offscreen relationship of two people starring in a movie together? We all want to know if the sexual chemistry between them is real! Did they have a good time filming those kissing scenes? We all know that actors get paid to play pretend, but it turns out that there is sometimes more to it than talent. Ever since Hollywood started, stars have always partaken in romantic dalliances with their costars. However, the bad news is that many of them are already in a relationship with other people. Sometimes, they are even married! This is a list of movies that led to the end of marriages. Stars from the Golden Age of Hollywood had been less discreet about their affairs, but they continue to happen to this day. Which stars cheated on their partners and spouses with their costars?
Cleopatra – Richard Burton And Elizabeth Taylor
In 1961, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton worked on Cleopatra together. At first, the two of them hated one another. The actress even said he was “brutish and boorish.” On the other hand, he referred to her as “Miss Tits.” However, things changed once they had their first kiss. It looks like they could not stop in front of the cameras! The only catch was that both of them were already married by then. She was with Eddie Fisher, her fourth husband. Meanwhile, he was the husband of Sybil Williams. When the cat was out of the bag, their marriages came to an end. Burton and Taylor tied the knot in 1964 and stayed together until 1974. They then divorced, only to remarry each other in 1975. It only lasted a year at that time.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith – Brad Pitt And Jennifer Aniston
It is safe to say that Mr. And Mrs. Smith was when the marriage between Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt went down the train. When she filed for divorce months before the movie came out, she said that it was because of “irreconcilable differences.” The actor later admitted that he “fell in love” with Angelina Jolie on the movie set. It started as a rumor, but they eventually came clean. Jolie admitted that sparks were flying at the time, but she was hesitant since he was married. “It took until, really, the end of the shoot for us, I think, to realize that it might mean something more than we’d earlier allowed ourselves to believe,” she shared. “And both knowing that the reality of that was a big thing, something that was going to take a lot of serious consideration.” This was the start of Brangelina!

To Have And Have Not – Humphrey Bogart
Before they became known as one of the biggest couples in Hollywood, Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall were friends. If you can use that word to describe people who kissed and held hands on the set. They were filming To Have and Have Not when people noticed the chemistry between the 19-year-old actress and the 44-year-old actor. Their costar Dan Seymour explained, “We knew things were happening. He had that sort of smile you can still see on the screen.” At the time, Bogart had been married to Mayo Methot. As you can imagine, she was not happy to hear the news. He got out of the marriage and managed to do so without getting stabbed by his wife again. After that, Bogey and Bacall finally tied the knot. They remained man and wife until he died in 1957.

The Outlaw Josey Wales – Clint Eastwood
Clint Eastwood was quite the ladies’ man back in the day. However, he is probably best known for the relationship that began while working on The Outlaw Josey Wales. At the time, he was still married to a woman called Maggie Johnson. This did not stop him from starting a rather obvious affair with Sondra Locke, his costar. The two of them eventually cohabitated together, but it was not quite as blissful as the others on the list as it ended in resentment. At any rate, we added it here because he and Johnson divorced because of it. Locke talked about this in detail in her memoir. It is called “The Good, the Bad, and the Very Ugly.”

Days Of Thunder – Tom Cruise
When Tom Cruise started working on Days of Thunder, his marriage with Mimi Rogers was already on the rocks thanks to his dalliances. The coffin’s final nail was none other than his affair with Nicole Kidman, his costar in the film. A month into the production, he and Rogers finally went their own ways. According to a former Scientology executive, Scientology leader David Miscavige had to do with this. At the time, this man had a feud with the father of Rogers. We will not go into details but let us say that Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman walked down the aisle less than a year after they met.

When it was released, she said that it was a “test” of their marriage. However, it ended up looking more like a documentary instead. There were rumors that her “dark side” poisoned the relationship during production. The actress herself has said that the two of them butted heads on the set. A year after it came out, she filed for divorce.

The Misfits – Marilyn Monroe And Arthur Miller
Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller were four years into their marriage when they worked together on The Misfits. Sadly, the pressures of the project had been too much for them. The playwright wrote it as a way to help her career. However, the actress did not enjoy his blatant sexism and constant rewrite. In “The Passion and the Paradox,” a biography about her, she alleged that the movie’s most interesting characters went to the male stars. Aside from that, they spent months in the Nevada desert. Her health was also on the decline at the time. They eventually divorced. The movie was the last one that both Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable did before they passed away. The actor died twelve days after filming it, while she passed away a year after its release. Some critics that she gave her best film performance here.

However, he was unable to look past his attraction to Helena Bonham Carter. His wife divorced him as soon as the affair came to light. However, the two women have since cleared the air. Thompson shared, “As Mike Nicholls [the film and theatre director] once said, and I’ve picked it up because I think it’s such a wonderful phrase – all blood under the bridge. You can’t hold on to anything like that. I think… pfft… It’s pointless. I haven’t got the energy for it. Helena and I made our peace years and years ago.”

Neither has said that the movie led to their breakups with their previous partners. However, Weisz has been candid about where she was in life back then. She said, “I worried about so many things, and it was hard for me to feel happy or understand what made me happy. In 2006, teenagers were shocked when Nick Carter joined Ryan Seacrest on the radio and dropped the bomb. What made it even more scandalous was that the actor was then married to Sophia Bush, his One Tree Hill costar. The couple had only been man and wife for five months at the time! They separated right away and finalized the divorce after a couple of months. In 2014, she defended the divorce but circumvented the rumors related to the heiress. Bush just said, “We were two stupid kids who had no business being in a relationship in the first place. To all the other co-stars who’ve worked it out, more power to you.”
