Detecting something extraordinary
When Ethan was pulled out, something remarkable caught his eye along the walls of the whale. Even in the dim light, he could make out a collection of unusual barnacles and strange growths clinging to the slippery surface. It was an extraordinary sight, as if a miniature ecosystem were flourishing inside the mouth of a giant. For a moment, he was amazed, before quickly taking out his camera to capture the bizarre scene, before being swept away again by the current.

The sight stunned Ethan. He knew he was facing a once-in-a-lifetime moment and, camera in hand, he rushed to capture a few more shots, determined to record that impressive scene before he was completely released. He felt the pressure of the whale’s mouth begin to loosen and noticed that the light from outside was becoming more and more intense. “Almost there,” he muttered, feeling the shortage of air, but aware that he needed to surface quickly as soon as he was free.
