The Lady of Cao
Before 1990, researchers were already working on the excavation of the El Brujo region in Peru. In 2005, they uncovered a mummy they called Lady of Cao. She wore simple clothing, and they estimated her death at around 400. Experts believe she was a member of the Moche people, which meant she was around long before the Incas. They found artifacts with the mummy, so she was likely nobility.
What The Lady Of Cao Really Looked Like
They brought her remains to a museum in El Brujo, where they kept her body in a climate-controlled room. You will only see her through a looking glass now. Even though they brought her back in a way, they still have no idea what her role in society was. They believe she died during her late twenties. One theory is that she was a human sacrifice.
