St. Nicholas
Saint Nikolaos of Myra is better known as St. Nicholas. He was a Bishop from Turkey who was around during the 4th century. Back then, he was known to be a generous caregiver. Rumors say he left presents in the shoes that children left outside the house. It then evolved to our Christmas holiday tradition.
What St. Nicholas Really Looked Like
He went on to become the Santa Claus we now know, although he does not look anything like the bearded man that we are so familiar with. He was Turkish, so he was darker and more Middle Eastern than they would have us believe. Western people just assume that historical figures look like them!
