Maximilien Robespierre
Maximilien Robespierre was a French lawyer and politician who was a main figure of the French Revolution. He advocated for religious tolerance, the abolition of slavery, universal manhood suffrage, and the abolition of celibacy. He had a big part in the establishment of the First French Republic and even got elected the deputy to the National Convention. He was a central figure during the “Reign of Terror”.
What Maximilien Robespierre Really Looked Like
In 2013, forensic pathologist Philippe Charlier and facial reconstruction specialist Philippe Froesch teamed up to see what the poster boy of the French Revolution looked like. They had an artwork of him and two death masks, allegedly created by Madame Tussaud! He was executed on July 28, 1794.
