Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson is probably the most famous American female poet. Born in Massachusetts in 1830, she died in 1886. She went to an all-girls school but was pretty isolated when she was young. She continued to live that way into adulthood. In 1890, people finally began to appreciate her poetry.
