George Washington
George Washington was the first President of the United States. In power from 1789 to 1797, he was elected as president after he won the War for Independence with the Patriot forces. He was an important figure in the establishment of the federal government. You will find the face of this Founding Father just about everywhere, from the dollar bill to important government buildings. But is it accurate?
What George Washington Really Looked Like
With the use of portraits and renderings, researchers were able to create a computer-generated image of Washington. In the end, it only showed us that the portraits did not lie! This photo is even realistic enough to show us the full head of hair on Washington, together with a five o’clock shadow. He died from sore throat complications on December 14, 1799 at the age of 67.
