According to Gavin, a waiter on a major cruise line, Big Brother is “very real.” To put it another way, there are cameras all over the place. This is largely for your own protection, as you’re aboard a massive ship in the middle of the ocean. Though the next Titanic is unlikely, in the case of an emergency, crew members may be forced to check the security footage. “It is safe to assume if you are outside of your cabin you are probably on camera,” Gavin said. “In the event of any kind of emergency, they could pull security footage at any time.”
